Our Camp Programs

The Nevada Diabetes Association for Children and Adults (NDACA) is committed to improving the lives of children and adults affected by diabetes through prevention, education and service. Our greatest joy is providing camps each year for children with diabetes. Our greatest success is seeing these chldren develop the skills to take charge of their diabetes.

While we wait for a cure for this terrible disease. YOUR donation can make a difference in a child's life.

How Can Camp Help A Child with Diabetes?

Camp

Helps me with my diabetes

Gives me confidence in myself

Is new challenges

Is fun

Is meeting new friends just like me

Is activities I didn't know I could do before

Is learning to take care of myself

A week at camp may not seem like much, but the self-management skills taught by a professional staff of doctors, nurses, dietitians, medical students, and youth counselors gives children the opportunity to learn how to be independent and increase their self esteem and confidence in themselves.

Many children don't know anyone in the whole world with diabetes. Many are scared about what's going to happen to them in the future and are afraid to try new things. Camp is an opportunity for these kids to be with other kids just like themselves who are dealing with diabetes. To be in a group where everyone around them understands what they are going through and what to do about it. It gives them the opportunity to share their fears and experiences with other kids.
