Breath Test for Diabetes
It's painful, invasive, and time-consuming, yet every day -- many times a day -- millions of diabetics draw blood to check their blood sugar levels. But there may soon be a way to monitor those levels without ever touching the skin.

Experts call for an uncompromising management of diabetes

8 Apr 2008 , Leverkusen, : Diabetes: an epidemic? Those who have been attentively following the media will find this conclusion hard to escape. But what are the actual figures for diabetes, what treatments are available, what complications can occur, can this metabolic disorder be avoided, what do people with diabetes have to watch out for and, above all, how significant is blood glucose testing?

Lifestyle changes reduce diabetes risk

Karachi, Apr 18, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- -- Changes in the lifestyle such as eating habits, exercise patterns can help reduce abdominal obesity and development of the metabolic syndrome. A cluster of diabetes risk factors including elevated waist circumference, blood pressure, triglyceride cholesterol, and blood sugar, as well as low levels of high-density lipoproteins (good cholesterol) are collectively know as the metabolic syndrome.

Older diabetics struggle with blood sugar control

EW YORK (Reuters Health) - The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is rising in the U.S. elderly population, and nearly half of affected individuals fail to adequately control their blood sugar, new research shows.
